Maxime Gravet
Head of Engineering
Maxime Gravet is co-founder and R&D Engineer at Mekanika, the Brussels-based open-source hardware company he started alongside Martin Duchêne and Roldan Descamps. He studied at the University of Brussels Crunchbase and trained as a mechatronics engineer (ingénieur mécatronique) Makeme. Originally from Arlon in southern Belgium, he began his career in China before eventually settling in Brussels Makeme.
At Mekanika, Maxime leads the technical and R&D side of the company. He spearheaded the development of the CNC milling machine, building on a standard tool concept and engineering it for simplicity of assembly, use, repair, and evolution Lalibre. His mechatronics background is central to the company's ability to design machines that are modular, repairable, and open source — core to Mekanika's philosophy of making manufacturing processes accessible to local entrepreneurs and makers.
