Machinable materials
The FAB 1300x2700mm cnc machine can machine a wide variety of materials, including:
- Rough woods (oak, fir, bamboo, beech, balsa...)
- Reconstituted wood (plywood, medium, chipboard),
- Acrylic glass (Plexiglass©, Altuglass©...)
- Expanded PVC (Forex©...), aluminum composite (Alucobond©, Dibond©)
- Various types of plastic (impact polystyrene, PMMA, ABS, PE...)
- Resins (epoxy, polyester)
- Rigid and semi-rigid foams (polyethylene, polyurethane)
- Non-ferrous metals (brass, aluminum, copper, etc.)
Dimensions
The FAB CNC machine works on a large surface area, with 1300mm (X) x 2700mm (Y) dedicated to its worktable. The Z axis stroke is 133mm (High Z 230mm available as an option).
External dimensions are 1750 x 3150 x 1250mm (length x width x height), with an approximate total weight of 240kg.
Control unit
The FAB 1300x2700mm CNC router is supplied with a complete control unit running on a 230VAC 16A electric installation (max. 3.5 kW with spindle, +0.55 kW with chip-extractor).
It contains an onboarded computer as well as the CNC machine's power supply, the drivers controlling the stepper motors and the inverter for adjusting spindle speed.
You'll be able so send files to the machine using Ethernet, USB of WIFI.
Computer and CNC software
The large milling machine is equipped with a Raspberry Pi 4B (2 Gb RAM) plug and play computer with a 13.3" capacitive touch screen and a mobile control keyboard.
The machine also comes with a license for PlanetCNC, with specific features that will allow you to visualize your toolpath, import and mill 2D files (dxf, png, etc.) without the need of a CAM software, access a simulation mode, automatically reach home and square your gantry, automatically measure the height of your mateiral, override feeds & speeds, start from line, add custom scripts and M-codes and many more.
The software is compatible with most CAD/CAM software, influding Fusion360, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Vectric V-Carve, Easel, SketchUp, FreeCAD, Blender, Carveco, and many more.
Sensors
A tool probe is included with the machine, enabling the machine to easily know the height of your material.
Thanks to its 6 inductive sensors and the software limits, the milling machine features a maximal security to avoid any crash.
Spindle
This model is equipped with a 2200W air-cooled spindle. Spindle speed ranges from 5,000 to 24,000 rpm, and is fully parameterizable from the software supplied with the machine.
6 ER25 collets are supplied, enabling installation of cutters with 3mm, 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm shanks.
Linear Motion System
Movements are driven by pinions/racks on the Y axis, and ball screws on the X & Z axis. The Y and X axis are driven by Nema34, 6 A, 4.5 Nm stepper motors, and the Z axis by a Nema23, 5 A, 2.2 Nm. The linear guides are 20mm-wide HGR20 prismatic rails on every axis, doubled on the X and Z axis.
FAB reaches speeds of 30,000 mm/min without load, or 7,000 mm/min when machining.
Structure
The FAB features a stiff structure thanks to 10mm steel plates for the gantry as well as steel reinforcements on every aluminium structural 60x60 parts through prismatic rails and 8mm steel connectors, allowing the best combination of the modularity of aluminium profile and the robustness of steel.
Accessories
The FAB 1300x2700mm CNC milling machine comes with a wide range of accessories, which can be purchased separately or included in a FAB large-format CNC milling machine package:
- Chip extractor: Thanks to a 100 mm antistatic flexible hose and a powerful extractor with a flow rate of 900 m³/h, the FAB's dedicated dust extraction system will capture your chips and protect your machine's performance.
- Spoilerboard kit to easily clamp your parts and work in ideal conditions. It includes everything you need to set up a surfaced spoilerboard.
- A complete set of endmills from Fraiser Tools.
